Andrew Groom - trombone
Born in South Yorkshire, Andrew learnt the trombone from a young age and received a scholarship to study at the Royal College of Music in 2008. In 2012 he moved to Switzerland to complete a Masters of Music Degree under world-renowned trombone soloist Ian Bousfield, former principal trombone of LSO and Vienna Philharmonic.
While a student Andrew was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra, Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, Britten Pears Orchestra, and Penderecki Festival Orchestra, and as a professional trombonist, Andrew has appeared with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the
Philharmonia and the Arensky Chamber Orchestra.
A keen composer of children's musicals, Andrew now works in Bedford School as Musician-in-Residence and Trombone Teacher.
