Stuart McDermott

Having first studied Physics at Imperial College London, Stuart then undertook a postgraduate diploma in Vocal Studies at the Royal Academy of Music (supported by the Simon Fletcher Charitable Trust) studying with Philip Doghan and Iain Ledingham.  In chorus Stuart has worked for Opera by Definition, Grange Park Opera, Opera Rara and Opera Holland Park.  In opera Stuart has sung the roles of El Remendado in Carmen for Ormond Opera, Beppe in I Pagliacci for Kentish Opera and Aylesbury Opera, Gonzalve in L’heure Espagnole for Opera Alegria, a concert performance of Otto in the Gypsy Baron (Princes Risborough) and most recently Laca in Jenufa also for Aylesbury Opera. As an Oratorio Soloist, Stuart has sung Haydn's Creation, Schubert's Mass in Eb, Dvorák's Mass in D, William Lloyd Webber's The Saviour, Mozart's Coronation Mass, Sparrow Mass, C Minor Mass and Requiem and the premier of Rachel Stott's Companion of Angels.  In recital Stuart has performed Schumann's Dichterliebe and Liederkreis and Schubert's Schwannengesang.
